Owaise qualified as a dentist in 2006 from Manchester Dental School with Honours, he achieved distinction in each of the five years of his dental degree. In addition, during his time as a dental student he was awarded four prizes in recognition of his academic achievements.
He undertook Vocational training in Manchester and initially worked in general dental practice. He then developed an interest in the treatment of anxious patients and as such completed an MSc in the Control of Pain and Anxiety at the University of Manchester (2008-2010), he was awarded a Merit.
In 2011 he commenced specialty training in Orthodontics at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester and Wythenshawe Hospital, he obtained his Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) in 2014 and was subsequently added to the General Dental Councils (GDC) specialist list in Orthodontics (GDC number 103257). The British Orthodontic Society awarded him the 2014 MOrth Cases Prize, this was in recognition of the best treated cases presented during the immediate past year at the Membership in Orthodontics Examinations (both Edinburgh and England) presented at the British Orthodontic Conference.
To date, Owaise has published over 40 articles in peer reviewed journals and he is examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England MJDF examination. In addition, he has lectured in various countries including the UK, USA and UAE.
